John Hunter

John Hunter is a Murri from Mt Druitt, Western Sydney his people are Gamilaraay/Wiradjuri of North Western NSW.  John graduated with a PhD from Macquarie University that focused on Traditional Knowledge (TK) and its application for the health and wellbeing of Indigenous communities in Australia and North America.
John’s work is an extension of the guidance and knowledge of his community elders, responding to their leadership which has been impressed upon him since he was a youth. Currently, he is helping to facilitate ‘Murama’ which is youth based program that supports cultural interventions on inter-generational trauma.  John is passionate about supporting self-determined processes for healing and wellbeing that facilitate sovereign change under the framework of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
